In Memoriam: Levonna (Bonny) Wigmore

The Lakehead University community was saddened to learn of the passing of Levonna (Bonny) Wigmore, who began working at Lakehead University in 1980 and retired in 1996.

Bonny retired from Lakehead University as Paymaster, where she met many lifetime friends and served on the Board of Governors. Even after retirement, Bonny stayed active in the Retirees’ Association of Lakehead University, serving as treasurer.

Rita Blais, who worked with Bonny, said she will be missed.

“Bonny was so helpful to me and to all faculty and staff at Lakehead University; she truly believed in an open door policy and was so willing to provide ‘sage’ advice,” Rita said. “From working with Bonny, I know how very important her family were to her and can only imagine how much she will be missed.”

In honour of Bonny’s life, the flag at Lakehead Thunder Bay will be lowered to half-mast on Sunday, Sept. 29.

Reminder: Rules for Bikes at Lakehead Thunder Bay

If you enjoy using a bicycle at Lakehead Thunder Bay, please keep the safety of fellow University community members, and property, in mind.

When riding your bike on campus, please be aware and respectful of pedestrians by riding at a safe speed.

Bikes on campus must be parked and locked at designated bike stands, or stored in the bike shack - a spacious LUSU facility where you can safely store and lock your bike. Located near the ATAC building, the bike shack is under constant video surveillance and heated in the winter. Students living in Residence should use the bike sheds provided.

Bikes are not allowed in buildings and must never be locked to objects not specifically designated as bike stands. Bikes found in contravention of this rule (i.e. fastened to a post, sign, rail, tree, shrub, building, accessibility ramp, or any other structure that is not a bicycle rack) will be removed and taken to Security Services' lockup.

After 48 hours, if the bike has not been claimed, it's taken to the Thunder Bay Police Service.

For any questions, please contact Security Services at security@lakeheadu.ca.
