Final Reminder: Green Shield Coverage for Dependents due Sept. 27

Dependent Confirmation

Lakehead University employees with dependent children between the ages of 21 and 25 who are enrolled in school full-time, must inform the Office of Human Resources.

To ensure benefit coverage is extended until December 31, 2020, please send written confirmation and proof of enrollment via email to benefits.hr@lakeheadu.ca by Friday, Sept. 27.

Employees who have already notified the Office of Human Resources this year will be required to follow up with proof of enrolment.

Senate Undergraduate Scholarships & Bursaries Committee Faculty Interest to Serve

The Senate Nominations Committee is currently accepting nominations to fill one faculty vacancy on the Senate Undergraduate Scholarships & Bursaries Committee with the term commencing immediately to June 30, 2022.

This vacancy is self nominated. Eligible candidates must be full-time faculty members.

Federal Election – Time Off To Vote

A federal election has been called for October 21, 2019.

For eligible voting employees who do not vote by other means, you are entitled to three consecutive hours on Election Day during voting hours to cast your vote under the Canada Elections Act. Polls in the Eastern Time Zone will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

If an employee’s hours of work do not allow for these consecutive hours prior to the closing of the polls, the employee may, at a time convenient to their supervisor, be absent from work without loss of pay.
