Smudging Advisory - Nov. 4 and 5

Please be advised that there will be smudging on campus using traditional medicines (sage, cedar, and sweet grass) in the Agora on Monday, Nov. 4 between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm and in the Faculty Lounge on Tuesday, Nov. 5 between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm.

Attention Concurrent Education Students in Year 3 or 4. Are you ready for the Professional Program?

Attention Concurrent Education Students in Year Three or Year Four: You will soon receive an email asking you to complete a survey, declaring your intention to enter the Professional Program in Sept 2020. The survey will be sent to all Concurrent students who are Presently enrolled in year three or four.

If you are a year-three Honours concurrent student, it is not necessary for you to complete the survey.

Completing the survey by November 30, 2019 will place you on the entry list for the Professional Program in September 2019. Concurrent Bachelors or Honours program degree requirements must be satisfied by 30 August 2019.

TSC Network Maintenance - Wednesday, Nov. 6

TSC will be performing critical network maintenance on Wednesday, Nov. 6 starting at 10:00 pm. This will affect internet services for both Orillia and Thunder Bay campuses and residences.

Services are expected to be restored by 12:00 am.

Pension Information Session - Wednesday, Nov. 6

There will be a Pension Information Session held on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 10:00 am and again at 2:00 pm in ATAC 5035 on the Thunder Bay campus and OA 3007 on the Orillia campus (by videoconference).

The sessions will be hosted by Clint Mason, Manager of Pension Services.

The sessions will cover the different types of pensions, information specific to Lakehead University’s pension, and retirement options available to pension members, as well as answering any questions attendees may have about Lakehead University’s pensions.

2020 Teaching Innovation Award – Nomination deadline Friday, Nov. 15

Nominations are now open for Lakehead University's new Teaching Innovation Award, which recognizes the development and/or implementation of innovative pedagogical practices and technologies.

The award is given for the development and/or implementation of a specific pedagogical innovation, and may be awarded to an individual or a team. Instructors, librarians, and staff engaged in the delivery and support of teaching at Lakehead are eligible to be nominated for innovations developed and/or implemented at Lakehead University.

Home for the Holidays with Lakehead University International

Are you interested in spreading some holiday joy and opening up your home to an International Student(s) this holiday season?

Many students are unable to return home during the holiday break, or have never experienced a Christmas in true Canadian fashion. We are looking for Lakehead University staff and faculty to welcome students into their homes over the holiday season.
