Changes to Helpdesk Hours of Operation

In an effort to better serve the University community during peak hours, the Technology Service Centre (TSC) will be adjusting Helpdesk hours to a continual 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. schedule, Monday to Friday.

This should better serve students, staff and instructors and improve access to the Helpdesk resources.

Research Development Fund

The Senate Research Committee has extended the deadline for receiving applications for the Research Development Fund (RDF) until January 31, 2020. Please note that faculty on three-year limited term appointments are now eligible to apply. Please see Research and Internal Funding awards for revised guidelines.

The Senate Research Committee passed the following motion: Three-year Long Term Appointments (LTAs) to be considered for RDFs during the tenure of their appointment.

Distinguished Researcher Award

The Senate Research Committee is accepting nominations for the Distinguished Researcher Award until January 31, 2020. The committee is in the process of revising the guidelines but for this year the committee will accept nominations that include:

  • a nomination letter (required)
  • a CV in the style of the nominees' discipline (CCV is acceptable) (required)
  • support letters are welcomed but not required (optional)
  • materials that the nominees feel best represents/showcases their research, or the impact of their research are welcomed (optional)

The SRC can award up to three Distinguished Researcher Awards each year, one in each of the Tri-Council categories.

Annual WHMIS Retraining Requirement

The Office of Human Resources - Health and Safety would like to remind all personnel working with hazardous materials that WHMIS training is required.

Website Training - Wednesday, Feb. 12

Nominations Open for Lakehead University 2020 Innovation Awards

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2020 Innovation Awards. There are two awards to be given out, the Lakehead University Innovation Award and the Lakehead University Student Innovation Award.

Presentations of the 2020 Innovation Awards will occur at the 15th Annual Research and Innovation Week Reception on Thursday, Mar. 5 in the Agora at Lakehead Thunder Bay.
