Reminder: Day of Action on Thursday, February 7

Tuition fees are increasing at a rate of 20 to 36 percent over four years, the average student debt is pushing $28,000, and funding for Ontario’s universities is well below the national average. There are no budgetary excuses for this lack of investment as Ontario and the Ministry have excess funds - having gone under budget in 2007. It’s time students, faculty, staff, and concerned community members come together to make sure our University is well-funded and affordable for everyone.
Date: Thursday, February 7
Time: 12:00 noon
Location: Agora

Students will meet in the Agora, then board a rented bus to rally our politicians for greater funding and a national system of needs-based grants, and for an end to the tuition increases. We will return to campus by 1:30 p.m. for a Free Student BBQ, to be held outside the Regional Centre. Students are encouraged to visit the LUSU office to inform LUSU representatives of the educational debt they have incurred thus far in their post-secondary careers.  This information will be posted for public display.

For more information, please contact Richard Longtin, President, Lakehead University Student Union (LUSU), at 343-8550 or
