Drs. Kevin Crowe and Bill Parker (Faculty of Forestry and the Forest Environment) will present how collaboration between forest operations research and tree improvement research can advance tree breeding zone determination. The delineation of breeding zones is a necessary step in tree improvement programs. These zones need to be small enough to minimize the use of maladapted trees, but large enough to avoid wasteful duplication of breeding efforts. This dilemma can be resolved as a maximal covering location problem. Everyone welcome!
