Mark Lesser, Faculty of Forestry and the Forest Environment will present "Building focal point seed zones for white spruce: a project overview and comparison of approaches" The presentation will discuss how the focal point seed zone methodology determines spatially explicit areas of ecological compatibility for any selected focal point. This approach will assist in properly matching seed sources and planting sites based on current and predicted future climate conditions. Focal point seed zones have previously been developed using principle components analysis (PCA) followed by multiple linear regression. An alternative statistical approach is canonical correlation analysis (Canncorr). Methodologies and results from these two approaches will be compared. All are welcome!
