Meteorites and Impact Phenomena

Two guest speakers will present talks on meteorites and related impact phenomena on Thursday, October 20 at 7:30 p.m. in AT-2001. Dr. Graham Wilson of Turnstone Geological Services, Ltd., will deliver a concise presentation on the natural history of meteorites. His talk is entitled “The cosmos comes to visit: tales told by meteorites”.
This will be followed by an illustrated presentation by Bill Addison of Thunder Bay on the features and consequences of the fallout from the huge Sudbury meteorite impact event, 1.850 billion years ago, as seen in the rocks around Thunder Bay. His talk is entitled “Evidence of a cosmic hammering: distal ejecta from the 1850Ma Sudbury impact.”
