Introduction

This DRAFT Language and Style Guide was developed by the Office of Communications to assist its staff in producing e-bulletins, newsletters, media releases, magazines, annual reports, institutional advertisements, and website content.

The Guide, drawing upon information from a variety of sources including The Canadian Press Stylebook (2008) and the Canadian Oxford Compact Dictionary (2002), was prepared in consultation with the Registrar, the Vice-Provost (Aboriginal Initiatives), and the Office of Admissions and Recruitment.

The Office of Communications has posted the DRAFT Language and Style Guide on its website in order to:

  1. Begin to establish a common style and language guide for all faculty and staff at Lakehead University
  2. Make the Style Guide available and invite feedback from the University community to determine whether a Language and Style Guide is useful to individuals and units on campus.
